As the Grants and Special Projects Coordinator at MSC, Alex manages a diverse set of responsibilities, such as grant intake and management, executive director support, and coordination for special MSC events and projects.
For over seven years, Alex has been working to support environmental and economic justice initiatives in the nonprofit sector. She has a wide range of experience in marketing, public relations, community engagement, administration, fund development, project management, and more.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and minors in Environmental Studies and Photography from Guilford College, a progressive liberal arts school in North Carolina.
While in college, Alex focused much of her research on environmental issues and social justice. This led her to begin organizing with Food and Water Watch for stricter public health regulations in the hog farming industry, and eventually to move to the Bay Area to participate in the cutting edge social and environmental movements.
To this day, Alex brings her interdisciplinary lens and diverse skill set to her roles in the nonprofit sector.
She has served as the Executive Assistant and Special Projects Coordinator at Urban Tilth, as the Outreach and Marketing Coordinator at Solar Richmond, and now currently as the Grants and Special Project Coordinator at Movement Strategy Center.
She is passionate about supporting innovative projects that are enacting solutions for a more healthy and sustainable present and future for all, and is excited for the opportunity to do this on a broad scale at MSC.
